Petitbois pleads not guilty to murder

August 4, 2008 by Thor Jourgensen

Lynn ? Rodlyn Petitbois pleaded not guilty in Lynn District Court just after 10 a.m. this morning to first degree murder and assault and battery in the stabbing death of Greenland Etienne, 33, who he allegedly killed in her 99 High Rock St. apartment around 1 a.m. Wednesday.
Judge Michael Lauranzano ordered Peititbois, 28, held without bail until a probable cause hearing can be held on Sept. 12.
Petitbois, dressed in a beige Department of Corrections shirt, did not speak during the arraignment, which lasted all of about five minutes. There was no reiteration of the crime or details of his arrest.
The courtroom had a heavy police presence, with approximately a dozen officers lining the room, along with a handful of Etienne’s family members, who left the courthouse without making a statement.
Defense attorney Kevin Mitchell spoke briefly, saying he and prosecutor Kate MacDougall had conferred prior to the arraignment and agreed on what would be said in open court.
Following 1 a.m. confrontation with Etienne, Petitbois and his estranged girlfriend Louna Eveillard, who was staying with Etienne, and their four children, aged 4 to 9, traveled by bus to Brooklyn, NY, triggering a AMBER alert. Petitbois was arrested hours after the murder in New York and Eveillard and the children were unharmed.
Since then, Eveillard, 26, has been charged with being an accessory to murder after the fact because her version of the events did not match witness accounts.
More information is expected on Eveillard’s status today. Stay with itemlive.com for more updates.
