LYNN-A car chase that led to foot chase through the streets of Lynn last week resulted in the arrest of three people well known by police.Christian Antonio Garcia, 20, of 7412 35th Ave., Apt. 110E, Jackson Heights, New York, and Kevin Terrero, 18, of 382 Chestnut St., Lynn were both arrested and charged with four counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.Terrero is additionally charged with trespassing, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and failure to stop or yield. Also arrested was Walter Clare, 18, homeless, charged with disorderly conduct and trespassing.Garcia and Terrero were ordered held without bail until a dangerousness hearing on Aug. 12 during their arraignment Friday at Lynn District Court, while Clare was released on personal recognizance.According to Lynn Police spokesman Lt. William Sharpe, Sgt. Henry Wojewodzic was working a private detail on Washington Street July 31 around 9 p.m. when he was alerted to an assault that had just occurred involving a handgun. The victims provided a description of a blue Honda with a possible plate number from the assault that stemmed from a traffic issue.Members of the department, including the gang unit, Massachusetts State Police, Essex County Sheriff?s Department, and division personnel immediately responded and stopped the vehicle at the corner of Herbert Street. As police walked up to the vehicle, the driver, later identified as Terrero, reportedly pulled away and fled up Hamilton Avenue as an officer struck the passenger side rear window and yelled at him to stop. After a brief chase, police say the vehicle abruptly stopped on Bayview Avenue and Terrero and Garcia jumped out and ran through a backyard.Terrero was seen throwing a silver object underneath an SUV in a driveway, which was later recovered and identified as a .38 caliber silver semi-automatic handgun.Garcia briefly dodged police, but he was caught a few minutes later and denied he was in the back of the vehicle even though he had pieces of the broken car window in his hair and on his shirt.Sharpe said both Terrero and Garcia are well known to members of the gang unit and other agencies.Clare, who also ran through several backyards and hopped a few fences in an attempt to escape police, was found grabbing his waistband.Because the incident was related to handguns, police drew their weapons at Clare and ordered him to the ground.Neighbors who had come out of their homes because of the commotion said they had just seen Clare lying in the fetal position on a porch on Hamilton Avenue. After the neighbor yelled at Clare, he jumped over a fence and ran through another yard on Rock Avenue where police later caught him.Police questioned a fourth suspect at the scene, but neither the witnesses nor victims could identify him.During the booking, police seized the shirts worn by Garcia and Terrero for a DNA check to be compared with DNA on the handgun. The firearm had seven 9mm rounds of ammunition in the clip and one in the chamber.Three cellular phones with cameras in them that Garcia and Terrero had in their possession were also taken.A search warrant may be sought at a later date for the photos in the cellular phones.
