MARBLEHEAD-Republicans are getting ready to eat and greet at the Marblehead Republican Town Committee’s annual picnic Saturday, Aug. 16, from noon-3 p.m. at the Gerry Playground, Stramski Way in Marblehead.Jeff Beatty, who is running for U.S. Senate, Rich Baker, a candidate for the House of Representatives and state representative candidate John Blaisdell will all be in attendance. Chairman of the Massachusetts Republican Party Peter Torkildsen will also be attending.Tickets ($10 per adult, $5 per child) are available at www.marbleheadrepublican.com.The event is open to Republicans from Marblehead and the surrounding area as well.The event is billed as the 2008 Patricia Warnock Memorial Family Picnic, in honor of the former committee chair and longtime Republican who died 18 months ago. In addition to her many party activities, she also is a 1999 recipient of the Citizen for Limited Taxation Award.Sharon Randall, MRTC member and organizer of the event, called it “a great opportunity to come support candidates who just might represent us on Beacon Hill or in Washington next year.”The MRTC meets quarterly and holds several events each year. The menu includes appetizers, salads, hamburgers, hot dogs, desserts, drinks and some civic involvement.The committee has full and associate membership openings on the MRTC. No experience is required to join.
