Subsidized pet spaying Sept. 29 at Lynn Woods

LYNN – The Animal Rescue League of Boston is bringing its “Spay Waggin'” to Lynn on Sept. 29 when it will offer subsidized rates for pet spaying and neutering.According to Jennifer Wooliscroft, a spokesman for the Animal Rescue League, pet owners in financial need can take advantage of the deeply discounted fees.The Spay Waggin’ will be parked near the Lynn Woods Reservation’s Pennybrook Road entrance starting at 8:45 a.m. The cost is $65 for cats and $80 for dogs. The test for Feline Leukemia and Feline AIDS is $19.Interested pet owners should make an appointment by calling 877-590-SPAY on Monday, Wednesday or Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Cats must be between 4 months and 5 years of age, and dogs must be between 4 months and 3 years of age and not weigh more than 40 pounds.The fee includes a physical exam, spaying for females or neutering for males, rabies vaccine, distemper vaccine, Heartworm test for dogs, nail trim and a microchip. Fees must be paid in advance by money order or credit/debit card only.Wooliscroft said all animals must be properly restrained and in control of the owner or keeper at all times. For additional information, call the Animal Rescue League.The non-profit organization was founded in 1899 and is dedicated to rescuing domesticated animals and wildlife from suffering, cruelty, abandonment, and neglect. In addition to rescue services, the league provides law enforcement, shelter, and veterinary headquarters in Boston. It also operates shelters in Boston, Dedham and Brewster, Massachusetts.The league additionally maintains a state-of-the-art mobile adoption and rescue vehicle (MARV), a fleet of animal ambulances, and the mobile Spay Waggin’.
