LYNN – The woman police said helped a murderer evade capture two weeks ago will be taken from a New York jail cell to Lynn on Aug. 18.Louna Eveillard waived her right in Brooklyn Criminal Court Monday to oppose efforts to bring her back to Massachusetts for arraignment as an accessory after the fact.New York police arrested Eveillard on Aug. 1 and charged her with being a fugitive from justice two days after she traveled by bus from Boston to New York with boyfriend Rodlyn Petitbois and their four young children.Police at first thought Petitbois kidnapped Eveillard and the children after killing Greenland Etienne on July 30 in the Highlands apartment where Eveillard had been living with Etienne. After questioning Petitbois and Eveillard separately, investigators determined the pair’s accounts of Etienne’s murder contradicted witnesses versions of the murder. Lynn police asserted in the warrant they issued for Eveillard’s arrest that she “knew Rodlyn Petitbois committed a felony; to wit, murder, and did harbor, conceal or assist such person that such person should avoid or escape detention or arrest.”Petitbois pleaded not guilty on Aug. 4 to the murder charge and is due back in court on Sept. 12. Eveillard initially mounted a legal challenge to New York prosecutor’s efforts to send her back to Massachusetts.Brooklyn District Attorney’s spokesman Sandy Silverstein did not comment on why Eveillard abandoned that challenge Monday in Criminal Court.Etienne’s relatives and members of the Lynn area Haitian community held a funeral for the mother of four last Saturday.
