SWAMPSCOTT – The little silver quarter-mile markers from the Nahant town line to Red Rock Bistro in Swampscott are expected to be a topic of discussion at tonight’s Selectmen meeting.Lynn Mayoral Aide Andrea Scalise is expected to appear at meeting to discuss the markers, which were recently installed in a sidewalk along the beach.Scalise said the city of Lynn would like to place a sign in Swampscott letting people know what the markers are.”We’ve been working on the project for two years,” she said. “Some markers went in last summer and we’ve had a good response to them. People are noticing them but we’re looking to put up signs indicating what the markers are. We haven’t really publicized this project.”Scalise said the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) has already approved placing a sign at the Nahant end of Lynn Shore Drive. The Healthy Lynn Partnership at the Health Division of the Inspectional Services Department launched the Walking Project with support from the Lynn Department of Public Works. According to Scalise, the markers serve to encourage the physical fitness efforts made by those walking, running or cycling along the beach.Scalise said at some point in the future, the Healthy Lynn Partnership would like to extend the markers along the Nahant Causeway out to The Tides restaurant.”We’re waiting to see what happens with the Nahant Causeway restoration project,” she said.
