MARBLEHEAD – Water will be everywhere at the Marblehead Arts Association next month.Titled, “Element One: Water,” an exhibit of recent paintings by Joyce Bartlett will depict water in a variety of forms: ocean, ponds, rivers and tidal pools.According to the MAA, “The exhibit features mainly abstract depictions of water moving, flowing and reflecting light. Underwater scenes with sea creatures and beach landscapes are also included in the almost 40-piece exhibit.”The exhibit will run from Sept. 6-28 at the association’s Ballroom Gallery, King Hooper Mansion, 8 Hooper St. There will be an opening reception at the gallery Saturday, Sept. 7, from 2-4 p.m., featuring performances by jazz vocalist Toni Ballard, and pianist Jim Rice.Bartlett has returned to painting after many years balancing motherhood and a high-tech marketing career that included working with Lotus Development, CSC and Tizor. She studied fine art at the Worcester Art Museum School, including painting classes taught by Robert Douglas Hunter, and at Montserrat College of Art and the School at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston (MFA) where she studied abstract, watercolor painting under the tutelage of the late Kaji Aso.She has paintings and drawings in collections across the U.S. as well as in Europe and Australia. This is her first show in more than 15 years. Further information is available at www.joycebartlett.com.
