SALEM ? Jean Fleischman, whose professional background includes jobs in the Massachusetts technology and energy sectors, has been named executive assistant to Salem State President Patricia Maguire Meservey.Fleischman, an Oswego, N.Y. native currently living in Milton, will also serve as secretary to the college’s Board of Trustees.College spokesman Margo Steiner said Fleischman comes to Salem State from Northeastern University, where she served as executive assistant to the president for administration and special initiatives for six years.While at Northeastern, Fleischman played a significant role in a broad range of institutional initiatives, including community marketing, emergency planning and response, and administrative leadership searches.Prior to Northeastern, she was vice president for public affairs and communications at the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, the state’s development agency for renewable energy and the innovation economy, and vice president of public affairs at Citizens Energy Corp., the non-profit energy company founded by Joseph P. Kennedy II.Fleischman was with Citizens Energy Corp. for 13 years, serving as corporate communications director and spokeswoman. She also directed the organization’s use of $2 million in annual energy and public health assistance programs to aid low-income people and the homeless in Massachusetts and eight other states.”The college is very pleased to have Jean Fleischman join our team. Her experiences and commitment to higher education will benefit the College and our students,” Meservey said.Fleischman earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Boston College and has a Master’s degree in public relations from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
