LYNN – The annual LynnArts Meet Me Downtown Festival of the Arts is on the horizon as organizers prepare for what could be the biggest turnout in the event’s four-year history. The annual gathering of musicians, artists and vendors in Lynn’s Central Square will feature some returning musical performers along with new acts from throughout the area.Musicians include the North Shore’s only youth steel orchestra, the Steel Pan Jammers, and newcomers the Mystery Tramps, Joe Mack Band and the Black Sea Salsa Band.In addition, over 40 vendors will be on hand offering an extensive variety of arts and crafts, jewelry, fine art, floral arrangements, photography, fabric crafts and food. For children, the event offers several children’s activities, including face painting, hand-twisted balloons and a moon-bounce. Organizers are also working on a talent show that would offer school-aged children in the city to show off their talent with a chance to win a spot on a local televised talent competition.Admission to the festival is free, and organizers are gearing up for another big turnout after a successful effort last year.”This will be our fourth year doing this with the city. We expect anywhere from 3,000-5,000 people downtown,” said Susan Halter of Lynn Arts. “It is just a fun day. We have been lucky, we have always had good weather in past years. It is fun to come down and listen to music, eat some junk food and enjoy the festival.”The festival will take place Saturday, Sept. 20 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. in Central Square, Lynn.
