MARBLEHEAD – Marblehead Village School parents will have to wait a little longer to find out who the school’s new principal will be.Superintendent of Schools Paul Dulac said Thursday he and his interview team were still checking references. He is hoping to name a new principal early next week.When Dulac met with Village School parents last week he said he expected to make a decision on a new principal this week.The school houses about 700 students in Grades 4-6. Former Principal Donald LeClerc left Marblehead to become superintendent of schools in Norfolk this summer and Dulac appointed Assistant Principal Danielle Cherry as acting principal during the selection process.Cherry is a candidate for the position, and Dulac praised her at the parents’ meeting for the way she oversaw school business this summer after LeClerc’s surprise departure.
