LYNN – A mother and son accused of dealing drugs were arrested Tuesday after police went into their Floyd Avenue home and found a house of squalor, police said.Calla Walker, 46, and her son James Walker, 27, both of 16 Floyd Ave., Lynn, were arrested and charged with possession of a class C drug with intent to distribute, possession of a class B drug with intent to distribute and a drug violation in a school zone. When police got inside the home to carry out a search warrant, officers said dog feces was found all over the floors and even on the kitchen table.”The house reeked of urine,” a police report said.According to Lynn police spokesman Lt. William Sharpe, an investigation into the family began when Calla Walker and Bruce Rideout, 34, of 29 Lakeview Place, Lynn, were arrested July 21 for receiving a stolen motor vehicle.Walker was pulled over for driving a stolen vehicle with a suspended license on Boston Street before she was arrested that day. She allegedly told police she was borrowing the car from Rideout and had no idea it was stolen.Police went to Walker’s home to locate Rideout, who was eventually found hiding under a blanket. He was arrested for receiving a stolen vehicle, illegal possession of Vicodin and several outstanding warrants. The arrest launched an investigation into alleged drug activity at the Floyd Avenue home. When police searched the home Tuesday, they allegedly found five Chlordiazepoxide pills and 23 Suboxone pills in addition to the “deplorable” conditions, according to a police report.Sharpe said the Lynn Police Drug Task Force and State Police executed the search warrant after police long suspected the address was the center of drug activity affecting the neighborhood’s quality of life.”It is hoped that the combined efforts here will lead to the discontinuation of criminal activity at the address and the restoration of quality of life for residents and neighbors in the area,” Sharpe said.Calla and James Walker were arraigned Wednesday in Lynn District Court and ordered by Judge James Lamothe to return to court Sept. 15 for a pre-trial hearing. James was released on personal recognizance but Calla was ordered held on $500 bail.
