LYNN – It took 38 holes to decide a winner in the 19th annual Gannon Mixed Classic at Gannon Golf Course on Sunday as a sudden-death playoff was needed to decide the outcome.Jane and Jay Fiste, who shared the lead after Saturday’s opening round, bested John and Phyllis Berg with a par on the second playoff hole to win the title at 14-under par.The playoff came after the Fistes and Bergs broke away from a crowded leaderboard on Sunday that saw any number of 10 teams come into the day with a shot at winning.Both teams in the playoff had a piece of the lead at nine under after day one and followed on Sunday with a five-under par round to separate themselves from the field.Tara Friedman and Wayne Johnson, previous winners of the Mixed Classic, finished alone in third at 12-under par. Sue Don and Stan Glowacz followed in fourth place at 11-under.Cathy and Bob Breslow and Roberta Pelland-Lou Ricci shared fifth place at 10-under.
