LYNN – A young father who already has a history of drunken driving was arrested again Monday for OUI – this time with his infant daughter unsecured in the back seat.Amilcar Lopez, 21, of 4 Princeton Terrace, Lynn, was arrested at about 3:45 p.m. and charged with operating under the influence (second offense), OUI with a child in the car, unlicensed operation of a vehicle and eight other charges.Officer John Meaney made the arrest after observing Lopez’ vehicle illegally pass six cars on the left that were stopped at a traffic light on the corner of Spencer Street and Western Avenue.Lopez allegedly took a left through a red light, then tried to speed away when Meaney activated his blue lights and sirens – running through another red light at Magrane Square.When Lopez finally stopped, he allegedly told Meaney he had a driver’s license, which turned out to be false, and “almost fell” when he was asked to step from his Honda Accord, according to a police report.”I had to assist him to prevent him from falling,” Meaney wrote.Police said Lopez’ infant was sitting in a car seat but was not fastened to it with a seatbelt. Lopez was not wearing a seatbelt either, according to police.Police said Lopez urinated on himself while sitting in the back of a police car. He allegedly refused to take a breath test once he got to the police station.Police added that nearly 12 empty bottles of Heineken were found in his car and another Heineken bottle was found partially full.The license plates on the vehicle were matched to a different vehicle, a 1998 Ford Explorer, recently purchased by a Lynn woman.In addition to the charges already mentioned, Lopez was charged with two counts of a red light violation, improper passing, drinking alcohol from a container while driving, driving an unregistered car and driving an uninsured car.Records show Lopez was arrested by Lynn police for motor vehicle offenses, including drunken driving, three times since 2006.Lopez allegedly did not appear at court hearings for the two previous cases and warrants had been issued for his arrest.On June 14, 2006, Lopez was arrested for OUI liquor, unlicensed operation, leaving the scene of an accident, malicious destruction of property and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (his car.)On Feb. 3, 2007, he was arrested for unlicensed operation, leaving the scene of an accident and driving an uninsured vehicle with revoked registration.Lynn District Court Judge Richard Mori ordered Lopez held on $5,000 cash bail and “not to drive” during his arraignment Tuesday. Lopez is expected back in court Sept. 30 for a pre-trial hearing.The Department of Children and Families (formerly known as D.S.S.) was notified of Monday’s incident.
