The Swampscott High boys cross country team is off and running with an 18-44 win over Beverly in its opener Thursday at Swampscott.Sam Rakoc finished first overall on the 2.8-mile course, logging a 14:18. The Big Blue took five of the first six places. Brandon Poulin was second (15:33); Kristian Kotov, fourth (15:39); Sierk Vanderburg, fifth (15:46); and Nick Hartman, sixth (15:53).Danvers 22, English 37At Danvers, the Bulldogs had three runners in the top six. Camy Ducasse finished third and Jesse and Chris Birotte took fifth and sixth, respectively. Fenwick (2-0) won the first game, 25-21, lost the second, 24-26, and the third, 19-25, before taking the next two, 25-15 and 15-10. Lauren DiCarlo had 16 kills and played well offensively and defensively at the net. Sam Bouchar had five digs and seven aces and Bridget Dullea did a nice job at setter.FIELD HOCKEYLynnfield 5, Rockport 0At Lynnfield, Meriam Gehret had the hat trick and Mary Krieger and Angela Arakelian had one goal each for the Pioneers (3-0), who led 3-0 at the half. Gehret had nine goals in three games, with four of them coming against Georgetown.
