LYNN – A double shooting on Monday shook the neighborhood around the Connery School as police searched for whomever shot two teenagers in broad daylight.Neighbors at the scene said they heard at least four quick-sounding gunshots shortly after 4:30 p.m. in front of 103 Warren St. – an alleged gang house that is the site of previous shootings and stabbings.According to a statement from the Lynn police department, officers responded to the sidewalk in front of 103 Warren where they found two gunshot victims who were both 16 years old.A female was shot once in the upper thigh and a male was shot once in the foot, according to police, who declined to provide the victims’ names. Police said both victims, who suffered non life-threatening injuries, are from Lynn.A man at the scene told the Item his sister was the female victim and identified her as Norah Michelle. He said she is 15-years-old, not 16 as police had said.Initial reports said both victims were 15 years old but police later said they were 16.Police were initially looking for a woman driving a gray Chevrolet Lumina with Massachusetts license plate number 29X-A92 that was reportedly seen driving away from the shooting.Lt. William Sharpe, spoke-sman for the police department, said the female victim was initially transported by ambulance to Salem Hospital but was later transferred by MedFlight helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Boston. The male victim was taken to Union Hospital in Lynn, police said.Sharpe said at about 7 p.m. Monday that police had not recovered a weapon used in the shooting and no arrests had been made.A man was taken into custody at the scene, but Deputy Chief Kevin Coppinger said he was arrested on outstanding warrants unrelated to the shooting.Dozens of people, including outreach workers from ECCO (Essex County Community Organization), watched as police searched Warren Street between Elm and Commercial streets for evidence.ECCO worker Antonio Gutierrez, 44, said he ran from his Lynn office after his 17-year-old daughter telephoned him because she heard the gunshots as she walked down the street a few blocks away.”This is crazy,” Gutierrez said. “We’re trying to give them basketball and things to do other than this (violence) right here.””This is why we’re trying to get some of the parks cleaned up and get some hoops back,” he added. “This shouldn’t be happening.”
