LYNN – Lynn police are asking for the public’s help to solve two violent street robberies that occurred within 90 minutes of each other Tuesday night.
Officers responded to the corner of Empire Street and Williams Avenue where a Garcia’s taxi driver was robbed at gunpoint at about 10:15 p.m., police said.
The cabbie said he picked up a fare on Franklin Street and drove him to Williams Avenue when a handgun was flashed at him, according to police.
The driver handed the thief an undisclosed amount of cash before the suspect fled on foot. The suspect is described as a black male, 5-foot-8 who was wearing dark clothing at the time.
The second robbery occurred outside 25 Magner Road at Kings Lynne at about 11:45 p.m.
A 52-year-old Lynn man was walking when he was jumped by two teenagers, both black males, police said.
The suspect struck the victim and pushed him to the ground, rummaging through his pockets before taking cash and other personal property, according to police.
“The Lynn police is asking for assistance from members of the public who live in the complex and may have witnessed the incident,” police spokesman Lt. William Sharpe said. “The case is being investigated by Detective Stephen Pohle.”
Anyone with information in either case is urged to call police at 781-595-2000.
