The Peabody High girls soccer team went on a scoring spree midway through the first half to put itself in the driver’s seat against Swampscott Friday at Swampscott.After spotting the Big Blue a 1-0 lead, the Tanners scored three goals in 11 minutes en route to a 3-2 win.Swampscott’s Megan Dawley scored 3:15 into the game (Skylar Sabbag assist), but Peabody had goals from Erika DiGiacomo at 11 minutes, Caitlyn Pinkham three minutes later and Emily Manoogian at the 22-minute mark. Swampscott closed the gap to one on a Jen Cleary goal (Marissa Gambale assist), but couldn’t come up with the equalizer.”We had our spurts,” Peabody coach Dennis Desroches said. “It was nice to get a win against a team like Swampscott. I thought we were evenly matched.”Peabody is 8-2 and Swampscott is 7-3.”They’re so fast. Goulet, who has five shutouts, had plenty of support from sweeper Shawna Henry while Devon Robinson had a couple of nice scoring opportunities. English is 1-6-5.Mystic Valley 2, Tech 1At Manning Field, the Tigers (1-7) found themselves trailing 2-0 at the half, but Chanel Bird scored in the second half to make things interesting. Malee Slocum had the assist. Tech also enjoyed solid play in net from Shaniqua Holcombe and Mah Weah Weah, who split the game.Salem 2, Marblehead 0At Marblehead, Jessica Ngo scored both Salem goals in the second half with assists going to Desiree DeLeon and Monique Gallant. Emma Titus (6 saves) picked up the shutout for the Witches (6-4-1).Saugus 0, Beverly 0At Saugus, the Sachems (5-4-2) and Panthers (3-4-2) duked it out in a defensive showdown. Saugus had plenty of scoring opportunities, including three clear breakaways and six corner kicks, but nothing found the back of the net. Lauren Garchinsky had the shutout for Saugus and Katherine Kramer was between the pipes for Beverly, which also had strong play from center midfielder Daryl Powell.
