MARBLEHEAD-Marblehead High School senior Anastasiya Miroshnikova is holding a fashion show to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.Miroshnikova, who is going to Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in California next year, is getting a scholarship for her work with this fashion show. She plans to study merchandise marketing and hopes to organize and set up events such as fashion shows in the future.”I always grew up around [fashion],” she said. “I started taking sewing classes when I was little, but I like putting everything all together more.”The 17-year-old has done all of the preparation for this event herself.”In the beginning it was easy,” she said. “But getting closer and closer and closer, it got harder. Doing it all myself, it harder because I didn’t have anyone to lean on. I kept telling myself it was worth it, not only because of the scholarship, but because I’m helping a lot of people.”She said that she doesn’t have an exact goal, but that she thinks she might be able to raise $10,000.The event starts at 7 p.m. with a cash bar and a silent auction. There are over 150 items for the auction donated from area merchants, including everything from gift certificates to tickets for Patriots and Celtics games. There will also be raffles. After the silent auction, Marishnikova will speak about her efforts to raise money for breast cancer research. Also, a family member of hers will speak about her experience with breast cancer and her life as a survivor.Following the speakers, the fashion show will begin, featuring 12-16 models showcasing both men’s and women’s fashions, in everything from casual to formal wear. All clothing was donated. She said that she hopes to continue her work with breast cancer awareness while attending college.”I’ve always helped out at different events around here, like the breast cancer walk,” she said. “I want to do that too when I’m at school. Hopefully this is a start, not an end.”Marishnikova said that she hopes other people will follow her lead and do something to help the community.”I want to be an inspiration to others,” she said. “I want other people to think that I’m 17 and can hold it and do it all myself and donate to a good cause. It shouldn’t be about age, it should be about doing good. It’s worth it.”The fashion show is on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. at Jimmy’s Allenhurst in Danvers. Tickets are $25 each, or $200 for a table. Tickets are available at Infinity in Swampscott, The Ultimate in Peabody, and Arabella Lingerie in Marblehead.
