MARBLEHEAD – Marblehead High teachers want to talk about the International Baccalaureate Program, a program Superintendent of Schools Paul Dulac wants to bring to their school in the next three years. When the teachers invited the School Committee to participate in their discussion, however, the committee begged off – because they would like to know more about it too.”What does the School Committee think?” School Committee Chairman Amy Drinker asked Thursday. “We don’t know. The School Committee hasn’t discussed this.”If the School Committee was to attend a faculty meeting, it would constitute a meeting of the committee – and anything committee members might say could raise expectations about next year’s budget.”We’re talking about 2011,” Dulac said. “We’re so much in the beginning of this.”He noted that he has been in contact with the International Baccalaureate Organization, which administers the program, and the IBO has already asked for a great deal of data about the school.Furthermore, he and the committee agreed, the first discussion of the IB should be between the teachers and Dulac.Drinker suggested that the teachers discuss the program among themselves for now and then attend a School Committee meeting to speak further.
