LYNN – A 19-year-old Lynn man has been arrested for burglarizing four homes around Wyoma Square.Anthony Murray of 220 Broadway was charged with multiple counts of breaking and entering and larceny on Tuesday. The thefts took place Sept. 26 at 168 Broadway, Sept. 30 at 25 Pendexter St. and Oct. 1 at 50 and 64 Commonwealth Road. All of the burglaries occurred in the daytime, police said.In the Pendexter Street incident, a neighbor confronted the suspect after noticing him standing on the victim’s porch, according to police. Investigators allege that person was Murray, who told the neighbor he was on the porch because he was looking for a lost dog.Police say Murray stole a Nintendo DS, Sony 360 X-Box, two wireless Sony controllers, two Apple iPods and video games from the Pendexter Street home.According to a police report, investigators suspected Murray after an off-duty officer observed him walking near the home at the time of the thefts. The officer recognized Murray because he has been arrested numerous times for burglary and larceny, police said.On Oct. 2, police went to Murray’s home and asked him if he would allow them to search his home without a search warrant. They told Murray they wanted to eliminate him as a suspect in the four break-ins, according to police. In a report, Detective Timothy Ferrari said Murray signed a consent form without reading it over despite Ferrari’s insistence to do so.Officers then searched Murray’s bedroom and found numerous items that were stolen from all four homes, police said. The video game equipment was later identified by the Pendexter Street victims as theirs, along with property owned by the victims at the other locations.A sentimental ring passed on from a deceased relative was among the items found in Murray’s home that police say were stolen from 168 Broadway. Several pieces of jewelry and coins were also recovered.A Cannon digital camera and two Trek bicycles were found at Murray’s home and had previously been reported stolen from 64 Commonwealth Road, police said.Lynn District Court Judge Dunbar Livingston held Murray on $1,000 cash bail at his arraignment. He’s due back in court Nov. 6 for a pre-trial hearing.
