REVERE – A Level 3 sex offender convicted twice of raping a child was arrested near his Jones Road home Monday for luring his neighbor’s 11-year-old son into the back of his car, police said.Dennis A. Bourque, 53, of 44 Jones Road, Revere, was arrested and charged with enticement of a child and misleading police shortly after 9:30 p.m. He was ordered held without bail at his arraignment Tuesday in Chelsea District Court, according to Suffolk District Attorney spokesman Jake Wark.Revere Police Capt. Michael Murphy says officers initially responded to the young boy’s home at 48 Jones Road after the youngster called 911 to report his mother’s live-in boyfriend assaulted her.Police arrested Ronald Prince, 56, of 48 Jones Road, and charged him with assault and battery. Police identified Prince as Valentine’s boyfriend.”We have been summonsed to the home many times for problems with the occupants,” Murphy said. After Prince’s arrest, officers did not want to leave the boy with his mother, Debra Valentine, because she was intoxicated, police said.According to Murphy, Valentine pleaded with police to leave her son with a friend or relative so the Department of Children and Families wouldn’t take him away.At this point, Bourque exited his home to see if he could assist.”A neighbor of these people, Dennis Bourque, arrived at the scene,” Murphy said. “The woman (Valentine) asked Bourque to take the son so [DCF] would not get involved.”Murphy says as the officers and Valentine tried to solidify the custody arrangements, the boy and Bourque suddenly disappeared. After his convictions on June 21, 1996 and March 15, 1988 for raping a child with force he was not allowed to be alone with children under 16 as part of his probation, authorities said.Police began searching the neighborhood and minutes later encountered Bourque, who allegedly said he left the boy at a neighbor’s house but couldn’t remember the address. As the officer questioned Bourque, he recognized him as a Level 3 sex offender. The photos of all Level 3 offenders are posted in the lobby of the Revere police station and on the state Sex Offender Registry Board’s Web site.”Once the officer got a better look at Mr. Bourque in a more suitable light, he recognized him as a Level 3 sex offender who was not supposed to be around kids,” Murphy said. “He had been on an ankle bracelet for that very purpose.”Police then asked the 6-foot-1, 270-pound Bourque to lead them to his car.”When the officers approached the vehicle, he took out his keys and was very nervous. He said he couldn’t find the keys,” Murphy said. “They looked into the car and observed the youngster curled up in a ball.”Murphy says Bourque then acknowledged he was a Level 3 offender and that he lied to police about dropping the boy off.Wark says Bourque was ordered held without bail Tuesday for violating the terms of his probation from a Worcester County child rape case. In addition, Bourque was also ordered held on $25,000 bail for child enticement and another $10,000 bail for misleading police.”Even if he makes the $35,000 on the present case, he’ll be released to Worcester County [law enforcement] for the probation violation,” Wark said.
