Second suspect arrested in MBTA garage stabbing

LYNN – Police have arrested the brother of a teenager charged with attempted murder after a stabbing at the MBTA garage in Lynn last Friday night.
Sarim Sang, 20, of 182 Williams Ave., #2, was arrested on a warrant Tuesday and charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon and armed assault with attempt to murder. Sang is the brother of 17-year-old Linda Sang, a Lynn Vocational and Technical Institute student charged with stabbing 17-year-old Genesis Sabater five times in the lower body.
While Linda Sang is the alleged attacker, police say Sarim Sang encouraged his sister during the confrontation, first by bringing her to meet Sabater at the MBTA garage after an argument, and then by yelling “stab her, stab her” during a fight.
Both suspects are being held without bail.
According to police reports, Sabater was at the Square One Mall in Saugus, arguing with Linda Sang through a series of text messages Sunday when the two arranged to meet at the MBTA garage to settle their differences.
The conversation quickly became heated, and then turned physical as Linda Sang repeatedly attempted to stab Sabater as several friends looked on. After missing with her first few swipes of the knife, Sang proceeded to stab Sabater five times, in the left hip, left thigh, left side, right shin and upper right buttock, leaving her bleeding on the sidewalk.
Sabater’s friends quickly loaded her into a gold Cadillac and left the scene. The driver of the car signaled to a police officer on Market Street as he was driving away, flashing his lights to get the officers attention.
Sabater was taken by ambulance to Salem Hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Linda Sang was arrested at her home early Saturday morning after a brief investigation, and her brother was arrested days later in connection with the incident.
The siblings are each facing maximum charges of 10 years in prison and a $5,000 fine if convicted. Both will appear in Lynn District Court Oct. 28 for a pre-trial hearing.
