LYNNFIELD – Beginning Nov. 17, the Lynnfield Water District (LWD) will start replacing all residential and commercial water meters within their customer base.A representative from the LWD said that it is recommended to replace the meters every 10 years. She also said that most meters in South Lynnfield, their area of jurisdiction, were last installed in 1996.Roughly 1,260 customers will be affected over the course of the next two years. District employees will work in sections, street-by-street, neighborhood-by-neighborhood, district-by-district. Barring any other issues, each replacement will only take 30 minutes to complete.Work will be done during the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. and should not interfere with the daily functions of the properties addressed. Customers will be notified three weeks prior to the date of their scheduled replacement. As the District is a separate entity from the town of Lynnfield, there will be no cost to residents. Meters will be replaced free of charge by the LWD themselves and through their own funding source.Any questions regarding the installation project can be directed to the LWD office at 781-598-4223.
