REVERE – Revere Police are investigating two separate robberies that took place early this week, one involving a Chinese restaurant delivery driver.According to police, the first robbery report came in to the station Monday night when a 49-year-old East Boston man reported that he was the victim of a “strong” armed robbery in the early morning hours of Oct. 26.The victim told police that he was walking a female friend to the door of her Franklin Street home around 2:30 a.m. Sunday when he noticed two men standing near his vehicle. He quickly made sure his friend made it into her home safely and returned to his vehicle, where one of the two men asked him for money. The victim stated that he had none at which point one of the suspects told him to step away from his car and punched him in the face. The victim said once he was punched, he emptied his pockets and ran away and was briefly chased by the suspects, who ultimately decided to raid his unlocked car rather than subject the victim to another physical attack. The two suspects rummaged through the vehicle and stole several belongings from the victim. The suspects are described as Hispanic males, one 5’5 the other 5’9. The taller suspect was wearing a yellow jacket and blue jeans while his accomplice was dressed in a blue sweatshirt and blue jeans. The second robbery took place at approximately 8:30 Tuesday night when police dispatchers received a report of an assault on Hopkins Street.According to police reports, the victim was a driver from the Happy Garden Chinese Restaurant, who was robbed while attempting to make a delivery to a home on that street.According to the driver, he exited his vehicle and began walking toward the home listed on his delivery slip when a young Hispanic male asked him for change. The driver reported seeing another Hispanic male sitting on the steps of the house, seemingly waiting for his dinner. The victim took out his wallet to help the first Hispanic male out with some pocket change at which point three or four additional Hispanic males came out of the house and began to jump the delivery driver. The victim reported the men took his wallet, car keys and cash and that one man drove his car a short distance before abandoning it further down the street.Police were working with the victim and Happy Garden to trace the number of the cell phone used to place the order and to furnish a description of the attackers. Police believe the original order was a prank to get the driver to the address so that the suspects could rob him.
