LYNN – Saturday evening, the Lynn Museum and Historical Society, 590 Washington St. will sponsor “Political Tastes.”The event, which begins at 6:30 p.m., includes a live and silent auction along with food tasting from some of the area’s favorite restaurants and caterers.Interim director Sandy Sheckman said all proceeds from the event, which is sponsored by The Daily Item and Eastern Bank, would go to museum programs and exhibits.”Everything we auction from fine art to mittens helps the Museum meet its fundraising goals,” said Sheckman. “We are pleased to recognize General Electric again this year, for their donation of two seats in their Red Sox luxury box for a 2009 game. Last year the tickets caused a bidding war, and the museum was obviously the winner.”In keeping with the political theme, the Lynn Museum and Historical Society’s exhibit”All Politics is Local: There’s Something Afoot in Lynn” is on display through the spring. The exhibit takes a look at Lynn politics and the local grass-root movements that were entwined with the political issues of the day. The Lynn Museum has a vast collection of objects documenting the city’s participation in local, state and national politics, as well as its part in the important social movements that were energized by Lynn residents.Ticket packages for “Political Tastes” are available starting at $35 per person, which includes wine, beer and unlimited food samplings.Tickets can be bought at the door the evening of the event.
