LYNN – The Lynn father originally ordered held without bail Monday for allegedly tossing homemade bombs from his Relay Street porch as children played nearby was released from jail Thursday after posting $500 bail, according to the Lynn District Court Clerk’s Office.Dennis Hamel, 21, of 17 Relay St., was arrested on a warrant Monday morning and charged with possession of an infernal device. A judge ordered him held without bail pending a Thursday dangerousness hearing.Judge Michael Lauranzano presided over the hearing and set the $500 bail, which was posted later in the day, according to court officials. The Item reported Tuesday that Hamel’s warrant arrest occurred after an incident Nov. 2 in which police responded to his home when a neighbor complained he was throwing explosives from his porch as a young boy rode his bicycle in the area.A police report stated Hamel is the father of a daughter who turns two years old on Saturday, but Kaitlyn Tabbi, the mother of the child, called the Item stating the couple has a 1-year-old son. When reached for comment Thursday, Tabbi had few words about the criminal case.”Wherever you got the information from is completely wrong? Everything is completely fine,” Tabbi said before hanging up on a reporter.Lynn police contacted the Department of Children and Families after the Nov. 2 incident was reported. A police report said Hamel admitted to throwing at least three bombs, saying, “It’s no big deal.”After Hamel allegedly told police he learned how to make the bombs from a friend, “Hamel then stated he thought it was ‘cool’ and tried it,” the police report read.A neighbor called police after she said she observed Hamel throw the device into the street from his second-floor porch as a boy rode his bicycle nearby. The witness said she yelled at Hamel to stop throwing bombs off his porch, according to police, but in a defiant response to the woman’s request Hamel allegedly made another explosive device and threw it into the street.A police report also states that Tabbi began yelling obscenities at the woman who called police while officers were still at the scene.
