LYNN – Students and faculty at Classical High School were briefly forced to evacuate the building Friday morning after someone allegedly called the school to report a bomb on the premises.Lynn Police Lt. William Sharpe confirmed the report, saying the school received an anonymous phone message early Friday morning prior to the start of school, which he described as a bomb threat.Once the message was reported to police, students and faculty who were present in the building were evacuated and led on a cold, rainy walk across O’Callaghan Way to Breed Middle School while police scanned the building for any suspicious devices.Authorities were unable to locate anything of note and determined the call a hoax. Students returned to their classrooms by 9 a.m.Classical Principal Warren White notified parents of the bomb scare and subsequent evacuation via the district’s ConnectED phone system.”We received some information before school started that there may be something in the building so we sent our kids over to Breed as a safety precaution,” said White. “Everyone at Breed was terrific and our kids did a great job following the evacuation procedure. I want to commend our faculty as well as our students who did a great job showing a lot of maturity and poise moving from building to building.”Police are investigating the origin of the phone call, but do not have any suspects.
