LYNN – Tracy Elementary School students capped off a week of Veterans Day celebrations in the city with a ceremony of their own, honoring two school employees who have served in the United States military.Donning patriotic outfits and waving American flags, students piled into the school’s auditorium Friday morning to honor custodian David Provencher, a Marine Corps veteran, and first grade teacher William Logue, an Army National Guard veteran who returned from a stint in Iraq last July.Logue is a 16-year National Guardsman who has done multiple tours overseas since the Sept. 11 attacks, serving in Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Iraq. His latest trip lasted just more than a year, but there is a chance that Logue is not quite done. He will remain an active member of the National Guard for another four years, which could mean another trip overseas.Students sang a series of patriotic songs to honor their country, and honored the veterans with poems and a group recital of the Gettysburg Address.Posters thanking Logue and Proventure for their service lined the walls of the auditorium and many students’ parents attended the event to watch their children perform. The event is one of many Veterans Day ceremonies held throughout the city. Congressman John Tierney gave an address to Classical High School Monday morning and veterans gathered for their annual celebration at City Hall on Tuesday.
