LYNN – Soulja Boy, who is best known for his hit “Crank That,” will be at the Lynn Memorial Auditorium on Thursday evening as part of MTV’s “MADE! Head to Head Hip Hop Challenge.”
Soulja Boy is one of three celebrity judges who will help determine the $10,000 winner in the first ever MADE! Head to Head Hip Hop Challenge.
Tickets for the 7 p.m. event are free, but are only available online at ONSETPRODUCTIONS.COM.
The other celebrity judges joining Soulja Boy are Laurie Ann Gibson, a hip hop choreographer best known for her work on MTV’s “Making the Band” series and Cris Judd a well known personality who recently starred on the Fox TV Series “Your Mama Don’t Dance.”
?MADE!” is a reality show that allows teens an opportunity to become the person of their dreams. Recent episodes of “MADE” include a choirboy who wanted to become a professional wrestler and a ditzy cheerleader who was transformed into a member of a debate team.
The event at Lynn Memorial Auditorium features Christine, a “girly-girl,” who is on the cheerleading squad despite being a total klutz. Christine is tired of being the worst member of the squad and wants to break out and do something on her own.
The event will also feature Eddie, a pop-culture fanatic with shrines to Ashlee Simpson, David Archuletta and the girls from The Hills. The self-described loner spends most of his time reading tabloids and trolling gossip blogs. He wants to become a dancer to get fit and make a name for himself at school.
The third competitor is Abby, who is a “total tomboy” and three-sport athlete. Abby, the only girl on the golf team and the star catcher on the softball team, said she’s tired of being seen as one of the guys and wants to learn to hip hop dance to turn heads.
The coaches for the three contestants are Cedric Crowe, CiCi Kelley and Sam Renzetti.
Crowe, who hails from Boston, has performed with Aaliyah, Brandy, the Backstreet Boys, and Natasha Bedingfield. He coached Abby, the “churchy good girl” and fencing fanatic, onto her school’s hip hop step team in Season 5.
CiCi Kelley, who gave the self-conscious Halle the confidence to bust a move in front of her whole school in Season 8, is also one of the coaches . Kelley, who is from Atlanta, has performed with The Fugees, Usher, and the legendary Tina Turner. She can also be seen in music videos for Beyonce, LL Cool J and Jennifer Lopez.
The third coach is Sam Renzetti, who transformed Marie from bookworm to bold leader with her own dance crew in Season 9. Renzetti is the founder and director of Xtreme Dance Force an elite hip-hop dance crew in Chicago. He has choreographed for Ludacris, Ciara, Tyrese, Lupe Fiasco, Bow Wow and Soulja Boy.
