Lynn teachers credit union to relocate

LYNN – The Lynn Teacher’s Credit Union will have a new location after the first of the year, moving to a larger space in the school administration building. The School Committee unanimously approved the move last Thursday, which will shift the small bank from the Fecteau-Leary Junior/Senior High School on North Common Street to the School Administration Building in the Lynn Vocational and Technical Institute Annex on Commercial Street.Superintendent Nicholas Kostan supported the move, noting that it will provide more space and easier access for the bank and aid in keeping all of the administrative offices centrally located.”They have been over at Fecteau-Leary for five or six years now and they used to be over at the old administration building at 42 Franklin St. before that,” Kostan said. “This provides a more accessible area for the bank and better parking for employees.”The credit union will be located across from the LVTI information booth near the administrative wing of the annex building where the school currently has unused office space.Established in 1935, the Lynn Teacher’s Credit Union provides banking, savings and loan services for Lynn Public School teachers. The service is not available to the general public or to the families of teachers, so Kostan assured School Committee members that only district teachers would be entering and exiting the school to use the bank. The facility has one to two employees working at a given time.Kostan said the move would take place over the course of the next month. Until the move is complete, employees will still use the North Common Street office.
