MARBLEHEAD – A Front Street resident thinks a little noise goes a long, long way.Daniel DeVan has written the selectmen to complain about "highly amplified" music emanating from The Landing Restaurant Friday evening, Nov. 7.DeVan called the noise level "excessive and disturbing.""As have other neighbors, I’ve spoke in the past with Robert Simonelli, the manager, about the problem," DeVan wrote."His response was a bit cavalier and (he) said he didn’t always have control over the band and that he wasn’t always there when the band played."DeVan reminded the selectmen that The Landing’s entertainment license stipulates that "no music (is) to be heard from the street.""This is seldom the case when they have a band with amplified music," he wrote. "Sometimes it is tolerable and sometimes it is not."He asked the board’s help in resolving the matter.Selectman William Woodfin asked if the town had received any other noise complaints about The Landing. "This is the first in awhile," Town Administrator Tony Sasso told him.Board members asked Sasso to ask Police Chief Robert Picariello if there are other complaints registered against the Landing. If there are the board will invite Simonelli to a meeting to discuss them. If not, the board will send a letter to the Landing reiterating the conditions stated on the entertainment license.
