LYNN – A Lynn man was arrested Thursday for allegedly pulling a cabbie out of his taxi and beating him with a blunt object on Commercial Street, police said.Pedro Mateucci, 19, of 137 Childs St., was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery.The cab driver was at the corner of Warren Street about 3 p.m. when he stopped for a person in a wheelchair who was crossing the street, according to police.At this point two men, one of whom was later identified as Mateucci, allegedly jumped out of an Acura Integra behind the taxi and approached the cab driver. The suspects allegedly pulled the cabbie from his car and struck him with a blunt metal object, police said.There was no apparent motive for the attack.Mateucci allegedly told police the attack was part of an earlier road rage incident, but eyewitnesses at the scene disputed that story, according to police.The other suspect, only described as a heavyset Asian male, got away before police arrived.The victim was treated by medics at the scene and released.
