LYNN – A Lynn police lieutenant driving back to work from a quick lunch break Thursday is credited with stopping three home invasion suspects in his unmarked police car.Lt. William Sharpe, the department’s media spokesman, was driving on Maple Street when he noticed another car drive through the intersection of Western Avenue at a high rate of speed around 2 p.m.Sharpe had just heard on a police radio that a car fitting a very similar description was involved in a home invasion minutes earlier on Beede Avenue.”It took me a moment to catch up to it,” Sharpe said. “When they noticed me, it looked like one of the guys was trying to jump out.”Sharpe radioed for back up and assisted in pulling over the car with Lt. Mike Vail at the corner of Cook and Eade streets. The three suspects were arrested at gunpoint.They were identified as Donald Kerivan, 36, of 451 Essex St. #2, Lynn, Sean Anderson, 28, of 329 Essex St., Lynn and Israel Sanchez, 31, of 54 Boxford St., Lawrence.Around 1:30 p.m. police say the three men stormed into 8 Beede Ave., apartment No. 3 and Anderson was holding a black handgun.They allegedly asked the woman inside, “Where is your son?” and immediately went into her son’s bedroom.The son, later identified as Damen Gobiel, 19, was not home at the time.The mother ran out of the house frightened and knocked on a neighbor’s door on Henry Avenue for help, police said.After police arrived at the home they allegedly discovered four ounces of marijuana inside Gobiel’s bedroom. After Gobiel arrived home he allegedly admitted the pot was his and was arrested for possession of a class D drug with intent to distribute.The home invasion suspects are scheduled for arraignment today in Lynn District Court. They each face charges of home invasion, armed robbery and witness intimidation.Kerivan, who was allegedly behind the wheel of the getaway car, was also charged for driving with a suspended license.
