PEABODY – The independent contractor who caused a major accident when his dump truck overturned Saturday on Interstate 95 has been cited for driving infractions before, according to Peabody District Court records.Samuel Gerrior, 44, of Middleton, was driving his 1999 Peterbilt truck full of asphalt southbound at about 1:50 p.m. with a suspended license when the vehicle struck the median and a car on the northbound side. The truck tipped on its side, spilling asphalt across the highway and shutting the road down for several hours. No one was seriously hurt.State Police said Gerrior was in possession of marijuana at the time of the crash and driving with a suspended license. He was not arrested but will be summonsed to court on the charges.According to the Peabody District Court clerk’s office, Gerrior was charged in 2005 for driving an unregistered vehicle and in 1999 for driving with a suspended license.A State Police spokesman had said in error that Gerrior would be arraigned Monday in court, but court officials said his arraignment date has not been set.
