LYNN – Police identified two men shot in front 645 Western Ave. near the Filene’s tot lot Tuesday night as Mark Fletcher, 23, 11 Bellaire St., Lynn, and Lonnie Wright, 24, 15 Courier Court, Swampscott.Police Lt. William Sharpe said Fletcher was shot multiple times in the back and is in stable condition in Massachusetts General Hospital. Wright was shot in the left hand and was not hospitalized.Dung Tran heard shots ring out on Western Avenue at 9 p.m. Tuesday as he locked the door to his convenience store.”I heard bam, bam, bam,” he said. “The guy was already on the ground.”Western Avenue neighbor Richard Moynahan said he heard six to eight loud noises Tuesday night.”My wife said it sounds like gunshots,” he said. One witness said he heard yelling and someone shout, ‘Move it,’ before about a dozen shots were fired across Western at a red minivan parked at the curb.Police said Fletcher and Wright were standing on the street or the sidewalk when they were shot. Wright ran to 570 Western and asked someone to call for help, then ran back to Fletcher.Sharpe said the men were not 100 percent cooperative on scene when police asked them for information about the shooting.”No motive is clear at this time,” he said.Tran, the owner of Dee’s Corner, and Moynahan, said their stretch of Western Avenue has been fairly quiet with the exception of youth gang members congregating along the thoroughfare.”There are good people around here. It’s the outsiders,” Tran said.Wright was arrested in January 2005 for cocaine possession and in July 2005 for domestic assault and battery.
