December 22, 2008 by jamaral

PEABODY-It?s been over a week since 58-year-old Alice Nunes of Peabody was reported missing by her daughter, but police have far from given up the search.Peabody Police Lt. Dennis Bonaiuto said that his department is in the process of re-interviewing family members, friends, and neighbors.?Basically, we?re at the same point now that we were on Friday,” he said. “We?re hoping there will be a positive conclusion to this case.”According to reports, Nunes was last seen leaving her home at approximately 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15. Where she was headed that night still remains unknown.Less than an hour later, Nunes? daughter called Lynn police after a cellphone conversation with her mother was strangely cut short. The daughter told police that Nunes last said, “I?m about to hit some water,” and needed help immediately, then the phone went dead. The daughter also reported that her mother said she was driving through Lynn at the time. The phone call has since been traced back to a cellphone tower in Wyoma Square, which means Nunes could have been anywhere within 10-15 miles of its vicinity. State and Lynn police used infrared and underwater cameras, as well as a State Police helicopter and a boat to search all bodies of water in Lynn including Lynn Harbor, but to no avail, Lynn police spokesman Lt. William Sharpe said.Having exhausted all their avenues, Lynn Police handed over the case to Peabody, who have aggressively searched the perimeters of both Brown and Spring ponds in South Peabody. They, too, have not had much luck.?We?re obviously checking any place that she may be,” said Bonaiuto. “Anything is possible at this point. We?re investigating all avenues.”For now, the department will continue the interviewing process. Their next move will be determined after all information is gathered and analyzed.Nunes is being described as a 5?4 white female with brown eyes and light brown hair. She was last driving a black 2007 Lexus ES350 sedan with Massachusetts registration 21GX72.Peabody, Lynn, and State Police urge anyone with information to contact Det. Robert Church at Peabody Police, 978-538-6360.Lynn police can be reached at 781-595-2000.
