LYNNFIELD – A four-car accident in Lynnfield Tuesday morning claimed the life of Robert Rogers, 82, of Beverly.According to State Police in Danvers, the driver suffered a heart attack when traveling on Route 1 South near the Route 129 ramp. An investigation found that at approximately 10:35 a.m., the man?s 2003 Hyundai XG 350 struck a 2008 Ford Fusion, which then hit a snowbank. The Hyundai also drove into a 2004 Honda van, which in turn struck a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer from behind.State Police closed off access to Route 1 for more than an hour, backing up traffic for miles. The road was reopened around 12:30 p.m. after the scene had been cleared.Rogers was pronounced dead at the scene; there were no other injuries reported.
