The Peabody High boys hockey team righted the ship Monday with a 5-1 win over Milton at Milton.The Tanners, who had dropped their last two games after getting off to a 3-0 start, had no problem finding the net in this one. They led 2-0 after the first period on goals by Andrew Bucci and Chris Lavoie and 4-0 after two, with Elijah Cohen (goal, assist) and Matt Rodgers (2 goals, 2 assists) supplying the firepower. Rodgers made it 5-0 in the third before Milton’s Sean Joyce would spoil the shutout.Derek Savage turned away 16 shots for the Tanners. Milton goalie Nick Harper was considerably busier, stopping 27.”We had a good game,” Peabody coach Mark Leonard said. “I think we kind of got a little lazy (after getting off to a good start), but we got down to business. This was a tough Division 1 team. This was a really good victory for us.”Peabody is 4-2 overall, 3-2 in the Northeastern Conference.Marblehead 5, Salem 2At Salem State, the Magicians came out flying, scoring three goals in the first period, but Salem slammed on the brakes thanks to two second-period goals by Cody Beckett, one of them shorthanded, that cut the deficit to 3-2.”We came out and played a good first period,” Marblehead coach Bob Jackson said. “But Salem showed its true grit, plying hard in the second period. That kind of woke us up and we played a little better in the third period.”Chris Donahue, Chris McLeod and Ryan Dempsey took care of the Marblehead scoring in the first period with Jake Kulevich and Justin Levine scoring two goals in a span of 17 seconds early in the third to put the game out of reach. Aaron Reny (14 saves) was in net.Revere 2, Danvers 1At Salem State, Jay Sasso provided all the scoring Revere would need. After a scoreless first period, Sasso made it 1-0 early in the second. Danvers tied it up on a Kyle Larson goal 10:19 into the frame, but Sasso came up with the game-winner less than four minutes later with the assist going to Nick Adreani. Nick DiMare was in net for the win.”It was a tight game, hard-fought,” Revere coach Jim Palumbo said, adding his team missed some good scoring chances, hitting the pipes a couple of times. Revere (5-1-2) has now won its last three. Danvers is 1-6-0.
