REVERE – Two home contractors were caught on camera Monday stealing a substantial amount of cash from a Park Avenue home where they were working and later admitted to the burglary, police said.Luckily, the victims got most of their money back.Victor Romero-Orlena, 24, of 13 Webster Road, Framingham and Jose Guerra, 30, of 32 Main St., Framingham, were arrested and charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony and larceny over $250.Police were first alerted to the theft about 2:20 a.m. Monday when three residents reported “a substantial sum of cash had been stolen from the home,” Police Capt. Michael Murphy said. The residents immediately suspected the contractors stole the money because they had allegedly been working at the home and had viewed the area of the house where the money was kept, police said. Investigators said there was no forced entry into the home. The victims remembered their next door neighbor had installed video cameras around his home. They viewed the video tape and allegedly saw the contractors walking out of the house holding a canister that contained the cash, police said.Later in the day, officers arranged for the victims to contact the contractors and have them return to finish the renovation, police said. At about 1:30 p.m., the suspects were arrested.”Both defendants admitted to the burglary and theft and assisted the police in arranging to have most of the funds returned to the Revere police station, where it was turned over to the victims,” Murphy said.Unfortunately, some of the money had been spent, he said.
