PEABODY – Supporters of Israel’s Operation Cast Lead, the country’s latest defense strategy against the Palestinian government party Hamas, will rally at Temple Ner Tamid in Peabody on Sunday at 5 p.m.Members of several local temples and groups are expected and encouraged to attend.”The community will come together to support Israel’s right to exist in peace and security,” said a the group’s press release. “All community members are welcome.”Nadav Tamir, Consul General of Israel to New England will be the event’s guest speaker.All guests are asked to bring a children’s toy or small handheld game with batteries included for donation to Israeli children forced to live in protective bomb shelters throughout the duration of the battle. They are also asked to donate iPods and other such items for wounded soldiers in recovery. The items will be personally delivered next week by Rabbi Yossi Lipsker from the Chabad of the North Shore.The Anti-Defamation League, Cohen Hillel Academy, Congregation Sons of Israel, Jewish Family Services of the North Shore, Temple Beth Shalom and many other organizations are sponsoring the rally.
