For at least the last 20 years, the St. Mary’s High girls basketball team found nothing but heartbreak every time it made the trek to Brockton to play Cardinal Spellman. The Spartans couldn’t buy a win – that is, until Monday night, when they finally ended the drought with a 47-39 victory.”Tonight we finally broke through,” St. Mary’s coach Jeff Newhall said. “By far this the best win in my four years (as head coach).”St. Mary’s did just about everything right in this one including taking care of the ball. The Spartans had a season-low nine turnovers, and never trailed.”We played a complete basketball game,” Newhall said.Amy Bozarjian had 12 points for St. Mary’s with Tori Faieta scoring eight with 18 rebounds and five blocks.
