Revere police seek jewelry store robber

REVERE – Revere police combed the streets Thursday searching for a robber who burst into a Shirley Avenue jewelry store about 10:30 a.m. waiving a gun and demanding an employee to seal his mouth with duct tape, police said.Officers swarmed Tobie’s Jewelry at 150 Shirley Ave. after the suspect ran away with two trays of assorted gold rings, worth $168, and $150 cash that was stolen from the cash register and an employee’s wallet, according to police.The victim said the suspect pointed a silver handgun in his face, then handed him a roll of duct tape and asked him to bind his mouth shut.The victim refused to tape his mouth and began yelling at the suspect, who took the items and fled the store, but not before ripping a phone off the wall on his way out. The duct tape was left behind on the glass counter.The suspect was described as a white man in his 20s who is possibly Latino, with dark hair wearing a navy blue jacket. Underneath, he was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, white sneakers, gloves and a backpack.Detectives are examining surveillance video from the store and neighboring businesses in hopes of identifying the suspect.
