SAUGUS – A man who sources say is head security guard at the troubled Tabu nightclub was arrested Monday after police raided a Mt. Pleasant Street home and confiscated a loaded handgun, ammunition, thousands of dollars in cash and $10,000 worth of OxyContin.A police booking sheet lists the employer of Gary Coulanges as Tabu Ultra Lounge. Coulanges, 34, of 49 Cabot St., Everett, was found inside the home when detectives executed a search warrant about 4:30 p.m. Monday, according to Lynn District Court documents.Coulanges’ believed-to-be girlfriend Nicole Oliveira, 22, of 21 Mt. Pleasant St., Saugus, and her brother Victor Oliveira, 19, of the same address, were both arrested and arraigned in court Tuesday.According to a police report, a locked safe was found in Victor’s bedroom that contained 139 OxyContin pills that were 80 milligrams each, two Hydrocodone pills, one Seroquel pill and $6,886 cash.A loaded Smith and Wesson .38 caliber handgun was found in Nicole’s dresser drawer and three boxes of ammunition and loose bullets were found inside her pocketbook, police said. One of the boxes contained a high-velocity bullet that is only issued for law enforcement officers.Victor Oliveira was charged with trafficking over 28 grams of OxyContin, possession of class B, C and E drugs and drug violations near a school. Judge Albert Conlon ordered him held on $7,500 bail.Nicole Oliveira was charged with carrying a firearm without a license and possession of ammunition without a license and ordered held on $1,000 bail.Facing the least serious charges is Coulanges, who was charged with possession of a dangerous weapon, brass knuckles.Still, news of his arrest already has town officials talking. The Board of Selectmen is in the midst of a costly show-cause hearing with club managers after several publicized shootings, stabbings and fights have plagued Tabu over the years. The fact that the head bouncer is involved in a major drug bust, Selectman Peter Rossetti said, “certainly impacts the clubs credibility, to say the least.”He also said he believes it puts added pressure on the board to act on the all the troubled clubs in town.Selectman Michael Kelleher called the arrest another concern to consider in light of the show cause hearing.”It’s an extremely serious issue,” he said adding that he couldn’t say much else due to the ongoing hearing.According to police, Coulanges greeted officers at the front door when they arrived at the Oliveiras’ home. Victor was in a second-floor bathroom and Nicole was laying down in her bedroom.Police said Nicole was thrown onto a bed by officers and detained for safety reasons after she reached for her pocketbooks.Police said that while they searched, a man only identified as Anthony Guarino was asleep in a bedroom assisted by an oxygen tank.As he was being arrested, according to a police report, Victor Oliveira said, “I don’t use drugs. I only did a little coke when I was younger,” and said later that he sold OxyContin, “for the money.”He later told police he began selling OxyContin two months ago, “and he got stupid because of all the money he was making.”All three suspects are due back in court Feb. 28.
