LYNN – A Lynn man was arraigned in district court Monday on charges he deliberately struck a 16-year-old boy with his Dodge Neon on Light Street early Sunday morning.Miguel Morales, 23, was allegedly kicked out of a party at 51 Light St. for acting inappropriately shortly before the incident, according to a police report.A short time after being asked to leave, Morales allegedly waited for a group to leave the home. As several people crossed the street, he allegedly accelerated and struck a 16-year-old Cottage Street boy in the leg then continued on and sideswiped a parked car that belonged to one of the partygoers.Police were called about 2 a.m. on a report of a minor car accident. After a few minutes of confusion about what had taken place, the owner of the damaged car told police the injured teenager was inside the house. The boy was transported to Salem Hospital.Police saw Morales drive away from the scene as they were arriving but had no idea about what he had just allegedly done, according to the report. The car was found a short time later on Ray Street, police said.Morales was arrested after he returned to 51 Light St., which is where he told police he resides. He was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (motor vehicle), reckless operation, unlicensed operation of a vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, attaching the wrong license plate to his vehicle and driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.Lynn District Court Judge Stacey Fortes-White released Morales on personal recognizance and ordered him back to court Feb. 25 for a pre-trial hearing.
