MARBLEHEAD – A 73-year-old Marblehead man was arrested Friday after he allegedly stopped his car and threatened to shoot another driver in a road rage incident on Gregory Street, police said.Daniel Brayton of 36A Front St. was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.According to a police report, Brayton stopped his car short at the intersection of Lee Street when the driver behind him slammed on the brakes about 12:20 p.m.Brayton allegedly exited his car, placed his hand in his pocket and approached the other driver yelling, “Get off my (expletive)!”The other driver, a 50-year-old Marblehead man, got suspicious and allegedly asked Brayton if he had a gun.According to police, Brayton allegedly replied, “Yes, and I have a license to use it.”Brayton then drove off but not before the victim wrote down his license plate number and called police.Police arrived at Brayton’s home a short time later. Brayton allegedly acknowledged having a confrontation with another driver but initially denied any mention about a gun.Police confirmed in the report that Brayton is licensed to carry a firearm and owns three guns.Brayton was arraigned Tuesday in Lynn District Court. He returns to court for a pre-trial hearing March 10.
