LYNN – A Lynn man was convicted Thursday in Lawrence Superior Court for paying a woman for sex and raping and assaulting her over a three-hour period in January 2007.Brian Emanuel, 29, formerly of 129 Allen Ave., was convicted of two counts of rape, assault and battery and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute in a school zone following a four-day trial. Emanuel was acquitted on a single charge of kidnapping. It took jurors two and a half hours to reach its verdicts, according to Steve O’Connell, spokesman for Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett.Judge Paul A. Chernoff presided over the trial and will sentence Emanuel on March 11.Authorities say Emanuel picked up a 35-year-old woman on the side of a Revere road around 2:30 a.m. Jan. 6, 2007 and agreed to pay her in exchange for sex. Emanuel then picked up his girlfriend and the three drove to a home on Halford Place in Lynn where he began beating her.The victim says she was forced to perform oral sex on Emanuel and his girlfriend during the ordeal.After about three hours, Emanuel drove the victim back to Revere and she reported the incident a short time later. When police arrested Emanuel they said 12 bags of marijuana were found inside the home, which was only a few yards from Ford Elementary School.
