PEABODY-Beacon Electric Supply will soon be relocating to First Avenue in Centennial Park, a move that councilors fully supported Thursday night with the required special permit. The electrical distributer has done in business at 147 Summit St. for a significant number of years, said Attorney John Keilty, who represented owner John Pedra. The new location would be both bigger and better for the business, he said.Keilty covered all the bases to prevent any discrepancies when he presented the request to the Council. There would be little interruption to those nearby, as the move would require only interior renovations, such as new doors, partitions, and stairs. Business hours would be Monday through Friday from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday from 7-12 p.m. There wouldn’t be any outdoor storage. And, there’s plenty of pre-existing off street parking – a total of 63 spaces. The only remaining concern was traffic.Councilor Barry Osborne recommended that delivery trucks take Centennial Drive off of Route 128, as opposed to traveling down Lynnfield Street. Keilty had no objections.?They’ve been a great business on Summit Street,” said Osborne. “I wish them well.”Keilty expects the move to take place some time in early spring.
