PEABODY – A fire that broke out on a stove Tuesday was quickly extinguished but left a Warren Street home uninhabitable, firefighters said.Firefighting crews arrived at the three-story home at 57 Warren St. at about 3:45 p.m. when smoke began pouring through the roof. While the flames were contained to the second floor apartment and quickly put out, Deputy Fire Chief James Coughlin says it could have been much worse.”We got here just in time,” Coughlin said. “The guy tried to put it out himself. Luckily we were right down the street.”The fire never surpassed one alarm and no injuries were reported. It started in the second-floor apartment kitchen and began spreading to the third floor when firefighters arrived.Coughlin said at the scene he did not know how many people lived in the home but described the building as housing “two and a half” families, with two full size apartments and someone living in the attic.
