REVERE-A Maine man was arrested Saturday after allegedly leading State Police on a high-speed chase and eventually a foot pursuit on Route 16 in Chelsea and Revere.Joseph Kenny, 30, of Ogunquit, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, driving to endanger, speeding, failing to stop for police, a red light violation and resisting arrest shortly after 2:30 a.m.State Police said a Trooper tried to pull Kenny over at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Revere Beach Parkway in Chelsea for a minor violation. Instead of pulling over, Kenny allegedly drove toward Revere, reaching speeds of nearly 90 mph, police said.He allegedly jumped out of the car near Bradstreet Avenue in Revere and led officers on a brief foot chase.When asked why he ran, Kenny said, “I don’t know. I was drunk,” according to police reports.He continually sobbed and refused to answer questions as he was being placed under arrest, police said.
