LYNN – The two men who were arrested Saturday during a traffic stop on the Lynnway and allegedly found with 278 Oxycontin pills were arraigned Monday on drug trafficking charges.Geraldo Contreras, 26, of 23 Roxana St., Hyde Park, was charged with trafficking a class A drug, a marked lanes violation, a seatbelt violation and a warrant.Rodolfo Santos, 30, of 200 Hilldale Ave., Haverhill, was charged with trafficking a class A drug.State Police say a Trooper stopped the vehicle after driving behind Contreras on the northbound side of the road at about 3:30 p.m. When Contreras noticed the police car directly behind him he suddenly braked, then changed lanes and cut off another car, forcing the motorist to abruptly brake, police said. The vehicle was pulled over and both men began speaking at the same time when questioned, according to police. Police also detected an odor of alcohol from the car, police said.Contreras allegedly said he was driving to a car dealership to obtain a vehicle sticker, but police said he had just driven by the said dealership and his story didn’t make sense. As additional Troopers arrived, police discovered the center console of the vehicle was a different color from the rest of the car interior and appeared to be popped open. Police looked inside and allegedly found a plastic bag containing the Oxycontin pills.”As both men were being handcuffed, Contreras began to repeatedly shout to Santos, ‘Don’t tell them anything!'” according to a police report.Police said the men admitted to drinking a few beers with lunch a few minutes before the stop and Contreras admitted to consuming two Oxycontin pills in addition to the alcohol before driving. At their arraignments Monday in Lynn District Court, Judge Albert Conlon ordered Santos held on $7,500 bail and Contreras on $3,500 bail. They are due back in court March 17 for a probable cause hearing.
